Downed power lines ignited a 4-acre brush fire in Palmetto on Monday, prompting voluntary evacuations, Manatee Fire Rescue said.

The fire, caused by two power lines that had fallen, was near 33rd Street W and 5th Avenue W. and was 100 percent contained as of Monday afternoon. It didn't threaten any structures.

The homes under the voluntary evacuation were along 5th and 6th Avenue W, emergency workers said.

UPDATE: An earlier version of this story said there were evacuations, per emergency medical workers. But a reporter who went to the scene said the evacuations were voluntary and that the fire is not threatening any structures.
