In light of the Manchester attack at the Ariana Grande concert, Bay News 9 checked with Bay Area law enforcement on how they protect what they call “soft targets,” like concert venues, theaters, and parks.

  • Venue safety concerns following Ariana Grande concert attack
  • Law enforcement to adjust security measures
  • Police ask, if you see something suspicious, say something

Agencies across the Bay Area said they spend a lot of time training to make sure citizens are safe.

This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend and there are several events expected to be crowded.

Whether you’re hitting a Rays game, the Sunset Music Festival, or the Margarita Festival, authorities said they won’t discuss their security measures, but have adjusted those measures accordingly.

“Whenever there’s an incident on the national level or on the global level in this case, we always take note. We look to see if there’s any lessons that can be learned from it. It’s very early,” Steve Hegarty with Tampa PD said.

Police said it is important for the public to work with law enforcement, reminding citizens that if you see something suspicious, say something.
