River Ridge middle and high schools will return to normal hours Tuesday.

Pasco County Superintendent Kurt Browning and his team participated in a conference call with Pasco County Emergency Operations Monday morning for an update on the Starkey Wilderness Preserve brush fire and weather forecast.

Beginning today, the bell schedule at both schools will return to 7:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. for the remainder of the school year.

If conditions change, the district and EOC will reassess the situation and adjust the schedule accordingly.

On May 8, smoky conditions forced school officials to close the schools that day and shift start times for the rest of the week. Times were moved to 10:45 a.m. to 5:10 p.m.

The fire covers about 2,275 acres and has been burning near Starkey Wilderness Preserve in Pasco County.
