A Clearwater Police officer is being hailed on social media Friday for his help reuniting a 6-year-old girl with her family.

On its Facebook page, the police department said the girl wandered away from her family Tuesday evening at Clearwater Beach.

After she approached some beachgoers, Officer Rich Edmonds offered to help.

The girl was crying and didn't want to get in a police car, so Edmonds walked hand-in-hand for about a half-mile until the family was found.

Way to go, Officer Edmonds!
