With Bay News 9 celebrating its 20th anniversary this year (and I’ve been here for all 20), let’s look back at past weather on Christmas.  As you can see, warm and dry is much more common on Christmas Day than any other type of weather. But there have been a few exceptions in the last two decades.

2016 - High 86, Low 67 -- Tied 2015 for the warmest Christmas Day ever

2015 - High 86, Low 70 -- Tied for the warmest Christmas Day in Tampa

2014 - High 66, Low 55

2013 - High 76, Low 49

2012 -  High 74, Low 57

2011 - High 82, Low 64

2010 - High 71, Low 45 -- Rain .03

2009 - High 73, Low 66 -- Rain .01, Cloudy

2008 - High 82, Low 70 -- Rain .18

2007 - High 76, Low 58

2006 - High 79, Low 69 -- Strong thunderstorms in the morning produced a F2 tornado in San Antonio in Pasco County shortly before noon. 100 homes were damaged.

2005 - High 70, Low 57 -- Rain .09, Numerous morning thunderstorms.

2004 - High 60, Low 48 -- Rain 1.22. Showers all day.

2003  - High 66, Low 47

2002 - High 70, Low 51 -- Rain .12. Heavy rain fell on Christmas Eve with 4 inches in St. Petersburg

2001 - High 58, Low 51 -- Rain .18. Cold front kept it chilly all day.

2000 - High 71, Low 49

1999 - High 58, Low 43 -- Sunny but cold.

1998 - High 79, Low 64

1997 - High 73, Low 69 -- Rain 1.33. Heavy rain and thunderstorms all day. Up to 2” in some areas.
