Interested in attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration? Snagging a ticket is unlikely, but not impossible.

  • WHAT: President-elect Donald Trump's and Vice President-elect Mike Pence swearing in
  • WHERE: West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building
  • WHEN: Friday, Jan. 20. Ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m., swearing in at noon
  • TUNE IN: We’re taking the swearing-in live on Jan. 20, and stay tuned for live updates throughout the day.

The good news is tickets are absolutely free – just extremely limited.

Approximately 250,000 free tickets were issued Jan. 5 by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. To obtain a ticket, reach out to a Florida representative or senator’s office. State leaders are the only ones who receive tickets, and typically disperese them about a week before the event.

There’s generally a lot of interest surrounding the tickets, so most politicians either offer a lottery system or a waitlist alternative. Writing a heart-felt letter never hurt anyone's odds.

The tickets give guests a front row view to history, via bleachers situated on the platform or standing stations.

Inauguration is a public event, though. Attendees without tickets who want to participate in the festivities can view the ceremonies on the National Mall west of 4th Street.

Crowds gather near the Capitol days ahead of time, but in order to get within half-a-mile of the event, tickets are required.

The event will also be streamed live.
