Governor Rick Scott continues to travel the state this summer, hosting round table discussions regarding the fight against Zika.

  • Gov. says he's asked for 10K Zika prevention kits
  • Still waiting on plan to fight Zika from White House, FEMA
  • Multiple cases, including at least one in Pinellas County, are still under investigation

According to reports, one additional non-travel related case has been confirmed in Miami Beach this week. Cases in Palm Beach and Pinellas counties are still under investigation.

"We still have some open requests from the CDC,” explained Gov. Scott, who visited Boca Raton on Monday.

“We need more lab support, which we've been asking for,” he continued. “We need Zika prevention kits to give to our pregnant women, I’ve asked for 10,000 kits. We're still waiting on that. We've been waiting since June since we first asked the White House and FEMA for a plan on how to work with FEMA when we have local transmission, which we now have. For whatever reason, we don’t have a plan yet."
