Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for the workweek ahead:

Our chance for showers and storms will remain quite high through the workweek due to tropical depression nine drawing up abundant moisture, located about 200 miles southwest of the Florida Keys.  A few showers will be possible overnight under a mostly cloudy sky with temperatures dipping into the middle 70s.

We are tracking three different tropical systems in the Atlantic at this time, with a fourth expected to emerge off the west coast of Africa in a couple of days.  Tropical depression nine is a few hundred miles to our southwest.

Even though poorly organized, nine is causing deep moisture to invade from our south with bands of rain rotating around its broad circulation.  Periodic heavy rain, gusty wind, and a few lightning strikes will continue through the week.

Nine is anticipated to become a tropical storm within the next 24 hours and eventually curve north then northeast making landfall in the big bend area of the state by Thursday.  This is all dependent on when the turn is made as there is a 300 mile deviation from the forecast track on Thursday.

Regardless of the exact forecast track, gusty wind and heavy rain will increase flood potential, with total rainfall estimates from 4 to 8 inches possible, particularly west and north of Orlando.

Tropical storm warnings are up for the Outer Banks of North Carolina due to yet another depression called eight.  Eight will have no impact on us.

Gaston is well out into the Atlantic ocean and will not have any effect on our weather either.

Surfers may be in for some fun-filled waves, as an easterly fetch from Hurricane Gaston works toward our east coast. Wave heights up to head high will create fair conditions overall. With an added swell, the rip current risk remains high. Experienced surfers should still stay near a life guard stand.

There's one other area we're watching just exiting the west coast of Africa that will likely cross the Atlantic. We'll have the latest each hour at :51 past in your complete tropical update.
