Here's what you need to know for Central Florida's weather for Memorial Day weekend:

  • Scattered Afternoon Showers/Storms
  • Highs near 90

It was another hot day to round out the weekend.  Temperatures Sunday afternoon reached into the low 90s.  As the east and west coast sea breeze moved inland, some stronger storms were able to develop.  We had some hail reports and a few inches of rain in spots.  A similar forecast is in store for Memorial Day.

Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours.  Temperatures will be mild, falling to around 70 degrees as we head toward daybreak.

Memorial Day will start out warm and quiet.  Similar to what we’ve seen over the weekend, a few showers and storms will be possible during the afternoon and evening.  It will not be a washout, but any outdoor plans to celebrate the holiday could be impacted by a passing storm. Highs will climb into the low 90s for most.  We’ll keep afternoon storms and high heat for a good portion of this week.

In the tropics, Bonnie moved inland this morning just east of Charleston, South Carolina. This storm has weakened down to a tropical depression and looks to hold this status as it sits over the Carolinas for the next few days before moving northeast. Hurricane season officially begins June 1st.
