Family and friends came together for the funeral of a community activist in Orlando this weekend.

Gino Nicolas, 24, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Parramore two weeks ago.

The shooting killed another person and injured four others.

“In the 22 years that I have been here, this is the worst that I’ve ever seen it,” said Nicolas' godfather, Ezell Harris.

Harris believes two men connected to Nicolas are now in jail because they were seeking revenge for Parramore shooting.

Nicolas’ best friend, Eric Griffin, who spent years playing professional basketball, did not attend his friend’s funeral because he was appearing before a judge after being arrested for attempted first-degree murder with a firearm.

“What has taken place since Gino’s death is just the opposite of what Gino stood for,” added Harris.

One of the men injured in the shooting two weeks ago, Daquan Lundy, is also behind bars. After Nicolas’ death, his godfather says that Lundy posted messages on Facebook including: “Looking revenge all summer 16.”

Harris believes these posts are proof that the latest shooting may have been a form of retaliation.

“If he really truly cared about Gino, he would come forward… Give the information on the individuals that did it, instead of taking things into his own hands,” said Harris.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release more information on the arrests of Lundy and Daquan on Monday.
