The incident happened Monday morning on Marigold Avenue, about 100 yards south of Fairway Road.

Michel was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center and later flown to Tampa General Hospital with trauma-related injuries. She was in critical condition.

A witness described the vehicle as a recent-model four-door sedan and said the vehicle may have been silver. The witness also said the vehicle slowed after hitting the girl and then accelerated away.
