Planned Parenthood comes under fire from all angles, especially from religious angles.

During a recent broadcast, television personality Pat Robertson said Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, “wanted a black Christian leader to be like a Judas goat and lead the blacks to genocide. Remember that? And they picked Martin Luther King as their spokesman."

PolitiFact Florida heard the claim and rated it PANTS ON FIRE.

Writer Josh Gillin said it goes back to a letter written by Sanger in the 1930s saying her organization could help African Americans in communities like Harlem.

“She had espoused this idea that this was a way to lift blacks out of poverty in those communities,” Gillin said.

Gillin said Robertson misrepresented the quote.

It’s for that reason the claim received a PANTS ON FIRE rating.
