A Pasco County assistant principal who deputies say overdosed on pot cookies was arrested Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Donna Lynch Haff, 50, an administrator at Anclote High School, was released from St. Joseph Hospital North in Tampa on Monday after she overdosed on cookies made with cannabis oil.

Pasco deputies arrested Haff at her home. According to the Associated Press, Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said the educator's 19-year-old daughter got the cookies from a coworker and brought them home after her mom said she wanted to try marijuana for her 50th birthday.

The assistant principal has been placed on administrative leave, and further action is pending, according to the Pasco School District.
