Starting Wednesday, some families in Lake County got a dinner time knock on the door from police.

  • 'Hero Deliveries' partnership with Little Caesar's Pizza
  • Clermont Police officers delivering pizzas to different parts of the city
  • Hope is to have families eat together, build trust in police

Clermont Police are calling them 'Hero Deliveries,' and have teamed up with Little Caesar's Pizza to hand-deliver 10 pizzas every week through November.

Each week, Clermont's Police Chief and some of his officers are picking out a different part of the city to deliver pizzas and hand out crime-prevention fliers.

They want to not only encourage families to eat together, but to also build trust between the police department and the community.

"We have seen a break down of communication and partnerships throughout this nation but we believe in being proactive and in fostering these engagements and positive interactions between officers and members of this community," said Chief Charles Broadway.
