Frida Alipour and her husband Jeff have dished on the ingredients and method of one of their most popular sweets at their popular Largo business – the almond cookie.

Ingredients

16 ounces almonds paste
5 ounces granulated sugar
3 to 4 egg whites
Sliced almonds to top cookies.

Directions

First blend the almond paste and the sugar.
Slowly add the egg white to avoid getting a crumbly texture.
You can use a pastry bag to make a circular shape and top with sliced almonds.
Or you can roll a ball of dough on a bed of sliced almonds into a horseshoe shape—about the size of your palm.
Place them on baking paper on a cookie sheet.
Cook for 12-14 minutes at 400 degrees.
