Law enforcement agencies in Brevard County came together Sunday to talk one-on-one with people in the community.

The event comes after the tragic shooting of a Brevard County Deputy.

Deputy Casey Smith is still listed in extreme critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He was shot during a prostitution investigation Thursday night.

Sunday's event in Titusville is just another example of how the community is coming together and helping one of their own.

The Titusville Police Department said even though the outreach event was planned months ago, organizers wanted to have another blood drive for Deputy Smith.

On Saturday, over 200 people showed up to donate blood in Titusville. Shelby Hines donated blood Sunday and had no idea how much she would be helping the injured deputy.

“I got in the bus and they said since your O negative, most likely your blood is going to go to Deputy Casey and help saving his life because he needs so many transfusions and I mean that is the least I can do. I feel like I’m doing something important. It’s just such a heartwarming feeling, it almost makes me want to cry,” said Hines.

About 22 people donated blood on Sunday. Blood drive organizers said even if your blood type isn’t a match with Deputy Smith’s your blood will be stored in the blood bank.

There are four big red buses stationed in Brevard County daily looking for donors. For more information on how to donate visit, http://www.oneblood.org/.
