Two 3-month-old cheetah cubs recently became part of Busch Gardens Tampa's animal family.
The cubs are named Tendai, which means "thankful," and Thabo, which means "joy." They were born Nov. 22 and they weigh about 12 pounds.
Currently the cubs can be seen by visiting the Busch Gardens Youtube channel. Starting March 1, the park's animal care team will bring them out to the public at various times throughout the day in the Edge of Africa area of the park.
Once the cubs are old enough, they will join the rest of the park's cheetahs at Cheetah Run, the habitat that opened alongside the roller coaster Cheetah Hunt in 2011.
Cheetahs are considered a vulnerable and threatened species. Park officials said that once the cubs reach maturity, they may become part of Busch Gardens' cheetah breeding program, which aims to help boost the cheetah population.
