Texting and driving is once again taking center stage.
Lawmakers want harsher penalties for drivers. Instead of a ticket, some lawmakers would like prison time.
New legislation has been filed to make texting while driving a criminal offense if it leads to a deadly accident. The penalty would be 15 years behind bars.
Right now, texting while driving is a secondary offense in Florida. That means you can only be ticketed if you're pulled over for something else, like speeding.
