Tariq Khdeir, the Tampa teen beaten by Israeli forces, brought his story to lawmakers in the Capitol building in Washington on Friday.

“I visited there for six weeks and what I’ve been through is just a small taste of what they all go through. The Palestinian people, they have no rights,” Khdeir said during a panel.

The panel included the teen’s mother and lawyer, as they urged lawmakers to look into whether Israel is complying with U.S. and international laws.

Khdeir said he was captured while he was observing a protest against his cousin's killing.

“I jumped the fence and I kept running a little farther until the Israeli police grabbed me, zip tied my hands behind my back, and kicked me in the face and ribs,” he said.

Khdeir told the room he wants Palestinians to have rights like everyone else. His mother echoed his calls for change.

“It’s not fair. The life of a Palestinian in Gaza should be valued as much as the life of any human being,” she said.

Khdeir and his lawyer plan to continue the fight and talked about visiting Washington again at the end of the month.
