Entrepreneurs and inventors got together Saturday for the first ever St. Pete Maker Fest.

In one room Saturday, the makers made it happen.

“A maker could be an artist, an engineer, anyone who makes something with their hands,” said Mo Eppley, St. Pete Makers. “3D printers, we have drones, quad copters, we have people that make furniture.”

It’s a bunch of a people looking to take their great idea to the next level.

Like the makers over at Free Fab 3D Printers, a St. Pete based company helping people get their hands on a cool piece of printing technology.

“We do prototyping so people can come to us if they need something done, something replaced on a car a plastic part or just an idea,” said Fri Rider, Free Fab 3D.

The workers at Bowls for Good call on volunteers to make bowls. They sell the bowls for $20 and use the money to feed 140 people in Tampa Bay.

The St. Petersburg artists have made eye-catching displays, old fashioned printers and robots to bring their ideas to the public.

The event also shines a light on the newly formed St. Pete Maker group.

“Encouraging creativity, and then it gives people who want or have an idea or invention, or a way to make it happen, and then maybe it starts new businesses,” said Eppley.

This group is part of a national effort encouraged by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman to develop and grow making.
