A crowd of Rays fans in Tampa's Gaslight Park watched the team take on the Orioles on Thursday, while helping out a good cause.

The event was a partnership between the team and the Junior League of Tampa. They sponsored a donation drive at the event that benefits Hillsborough County Sheriff's Child Protective Services.

"We heard right away about what the Junior League was doing, in terms of this program, and the fact that it helps kids that are dealing with child protective services," Rays Sr. Vice President Mark Fernandez said, "that's something we wanted to be a part of.

Fernandez said the team felt they need to focus efforts on the children in the community who need help during crisis.

Sadly, the Rays did not come out on top, losing to the Orioles in 14 innings.
