Things couldn’t have gone any better for Jenny Kim and the Lake Mary Rams at the 3A State Golf Championships. Down after Day 1 at the links, the Rams charged back in the final round, led by a spectacular performance by the senior.

“I was just putting myself in good positions to make putts for birdie and I was hitting my tee shots really well,” explained Kim. “Just putting myself in position is what happened.”

The Lake Mary Lady Rams claiming the 3peat, three time state champions. And Jenny Kim? Finally, the individual champ as well.

“It was a big goal. I set it before the season started and I was working really hard on it to get to this spot, so I was really happy.”

Kim shot a 66 on Day 2 to take the win by two strokes. The final round was stellar all around for the Rams, who collectively shot a 288, the lowest score by far of the competition.

“When the team is playing well it helps her relax and then she doesn’t feel the pressure to try and do everything on her own,” explained Lake Mary Head Golf Coach Dennis Burchill. “So she got relaxed, certainly on that back nine with four straight birdies, and finished strong and won that individual championship.”

Three team titles and one individual, it’s a pretty sweet high school career for the senior. But golf is far from over. Committed to the Florida Gators, every day Kim can get some practice in swinging the club is a good day in her book.

“What has made her a fantastic golfer is her work ethic,” said Burchill. “She is a very hard worker, she sets her goals and works very hard towards them and if she doesn’t get it right away, she continues to work.”
