Erin Murray, Reporter

Erin Murray joined the News 13 team as a reporter in November 2016.

Her reporting career has taken her across the country. She got her start in 2009, during her senior year of college at West Virginia University, when she became a weekend multimedia reporter for WDTV in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Erin then made a big move to Texas in November 2010 to begin working full-time for KVEO in Brownsville/McAllen. In McAllen, Erin helped start a bureau in Hidalgo County, covering major topics such as border violence, drug smuggling and human trafficking.

After two and a half years at KVEO, she then was hired in Omaha, Nebraska, for the NBC affiliate WOWT 6 News. Erin stayed in Omaha for three and a half years, working as a general assignment reporter with an emphasis on crime and medical stories. During her time in Nebraska, Erin received several Associated Press awards for her reporting and videography.

As you can tell, Erin has a real passion for traveling, a trait she picked up at a young age. Erin was born in Warrenton, Virginia, but at the age of two, her family moved to Frankfurt, Germany for six years. In Germany, Erin attended an international school. She then returned to Virginia for her middle and high school years. For college, Erin became a Mountaineer when she was accepted into West Virginia University. She received a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in history and political science.

In her spare time, Erin rides horses, plays volleyball, hangs out with the Central Florida WVU alumni group and spends time with husband, Mike, and dog, Layla.
