The huddle breakdown at Armwood used to end with state champs.

"One, two, three, hard work. Four, five, six, pays off."

But senior running back Brian Snead changed it this season. He changed it to a word that means more to him than a championship - family.

"Seven, eight, nine, family"

"Before the season started, Brian’s like we’re not doing that anymore," Armwood head coach Evan Davis said. "Seven, eight, nine, family because that’s what it’s got to be. Because if we come together as a family as a brotherhood, that state championship will come.”

A state championship is the one thing missing from Snead’s impressive football resume. Winning his first would be a dream come true. The Hawks are a win away from the Class 6A state championship game in Orlando.

“Oh, it’s going to mean a lot, mean a lot," Snead said. "I mean, it’s going to come down to tears when we win. This is something I’ve dreamed of having.”

The Ohio State commit who is Hillsborough County’s fourth-leading rusher with more than 1,000 yards, brings more than X’s and O’s to his team.

“Belief. They just know that if he’s there, we can get the job done," Davis said. "They can lean on him and he’ll make something happen for them.”
