The Longboat Key Police Department, in partnership with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, has arrested Darryl Hanna Jr. for the robbery and double homicide at the Zota Beach Resort on Friday, Aug. 4, officials said. 

Officials said Hanna was apprehended at a home in east Bradenton and has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of armed robbery. 

On Aug. 4, Longboat Key police responded to a robbery report around 3 a.m. at the Zota Beach Resort at 4711 Gulf of Mexico Drive. 

Officers found the resort's night manager, Timothy Hurley, and security guard, Kevin Carter, shot to death. Hurley, a Sarasota resident, was 59. Carter, of Bradenton, was 51 and an employee of Victory Security.

Authorities said surveillance video showed a man wearing a mask and carrying a gun while walking around the resort.
