The Tampa Police Department located and arrested a Crystal River man suspected of attempting to murder the mother of his child.

  • Marco Antonio Johnson Jr., 24, located in Tampa
  • Erica Calculli, 24, found unresponsive by deputies
  • One-year-old daughter now with DCF

Citrus County Sheriff's Office officials said deputies were dispatched to the Crystal River home of Erica Calculli, 24, on the morning of August 1 to perform a well-being check. Upon their arrival, they found Calculli unresponsive with head injuries.

The county's Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and identified a suspect, Marco Antonio Johnson, Jr., 24, of Crystal River. Detectives pieced together that Johnson Jr. and Calculli had a child together and that the child, a one-year-old girl was missing and presumably with Johnson Jr.

The agency issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for Johnson Jr., along with a description of his vehicle, to other law enforcement agencies. Johnson Jr. and his daughter was later located by Tampa Police and arrested without incident.

Johnson Jr. was charged with attempted murder, interference with child custody while armed and grand theft while armed. He's currently in the Hillsborough County Jail.

Calculli remains hospitalized. The child is the custody of the Department of Children and Families, who hope to reunite her with family members.
