Fire officials are reminding residents that all of Hernando County remains under a burn ban after Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to four separate brush fires throughout the county Wednesday.

The first fire sparked on Crescent Road in Spring Hill. That fire is 100 percent contained and poses no further threats.

The second fire occurred off Moore Road in Brooksville. That fire is currently contained within fire lines at 5 acres. Smoke and flames will still be visible for several days, but officials said there are no threats to structures in the area.

The cause of the fire was from downed power lines, HCFR said.

The third fire broke out during the Moore fire off of Harrison Road in Brooksville. Fire crews were able to contain that fire to 0.5 acres with 100 percent containment.

The fourth fire started from an unattended recreational fire off of Otter Drive in Brooksville. That fire was less than 0.5 acres and is 100 percent contained, officials said.

Officials are also warning residents in eastern Hernando County of lingering smoky conditions for several days due to a brush fire in the Richloam forest near CR 471.

Florida Forest Service had the 54 acre fire 80 percent contained as of 10 p.m. Wednesday.
