A damaged aircraft has been spotted in the middle of the intersection of 18th Avenue South and 16th Street South in St. Petersburg.

According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, the small plane, FAA registry N900CR, crashed on 18th Avenue South and struck two vehicles. The pilot made an emergency landing, though at this time the reason for it is undetermined.

Two people were on board the plane when it came down. Five people total at the scene were treated for injuries, three of whom were transported to an area hospital.

The pilot, Manuel Izquierdo, and one of the passengers on the plane, Ronald Bizick, were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. 

One of the drivers, Kimberly Grooms, was also transported to Bayfront Health. The other driver, Alphonsine Dean, and his juvenile passenger, were both treated at the scene. 

According to Richard Lesniak, airport manager for Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, the aircraft was headed to that location, and slated to land on Runway Seven. Lesniak told us he was unaware of any distress call from the aircraft to the airport's tower.

The aircraft is registered to Noble Air Charter, Inc.
